An average City CarShare trip has a "blended" rate (one that
combines hours and miles) of about $6.50/hour — less if you
drive fewer miles or use the car during Night Owl hours. And
remember, all trips include gas, maintenance, the best insurance
available, and a place to park when you're done.
For most trips, fees are $5/hour and 40¢/mile. Drive between
midnight and 8 a.m., and you'll pay only $1/hour or even $0/hour,
depending on your plan, plus 40¢/mile. There is a $2/hour
premium charge for our MINI Coopers and Honda Elements (which
represent less than 5% of our fleet), except for SharePlus
members.
If you have a longer distance trip in mind, our Extended Freedom
Trips (EFT) are the way to go. EFTs cost just $40 and 10¢/mile
for the first 24 hours and 200 miles. There's an extra $10/trip
charge for premium cars, except for Share Plus members. Take them
one at a time or book them back-to-back for a longer getaway.

Tip: For Extended Freedom Trips, the $40 rate is for the first 24
hours and the 10¢/mile rate is for the first 200 miles. If
you make an Extended Freedom Trip reservation for 30 hours and
drive 150 miles, you'll save on your mileage since the whole trip
is less than 200 miles. You'll only pay the additional 6 hours
at $5/hour, which is $30. Your total? $85 or even less if the
remaining 6 hours fall within Night Owl hours.
