As an Access member, you have 24/7 access to a minivan that holds up to 2 people using wheelchairs, 3 more passengers—depending on the size of the wheelchair(s)—and a driver. The Access Program is available to any City CarShare member who requests access to the van and equipment.

Join the Access Program and any person you approve to join your account can drive our AccessMobile van on your behalf once they have signed up. Any and all driving fees will be billed to your account. You do not have to have a driver’s license to join. The Access Program member application fee is the same as the plan you are joining. The Access driver member application fee is $10 per designated driver (limit of 5 drivers per account).

There are 3 ways to join the Access Program:

1. Non-Driver Member
Fill out an application for the plan you wish to join. Select the box indicating that you are joining the Access Program. You will be given a Member ID number and password. Give your Member ID number to your chosen drivers (not your password). Each driver needs to sign up using the same sign up form that you used. Have them join your account following the instructions on the form. When they sign up, they will each get their own electronic key called a key fob. Only drivers authorized by you and approved by City CarShare will get key fobs. The key fobs cannot be shared.

2. Driver Member
If you wish to drive anyone who uses a mobility device, let us know by checking the Access Program box on the form. We will then give you access to the program, as well as full access to all vehicles in the City CarShare network.

Access Program Member Application Fee: same as the plan you are joining.

3. Existing Member
Email Member Services to add your account.

The AccessMobile is located at our Berkeley: Milvia and Center Pod. Those participating in the Access Program will also be able to reserve the AccessMobile anytime it is available.
