United in Equality
City CarShare supports equality for all and we are especially proud to support the San
Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration Committee during these times of change. We hope you'll join us at the San
Francisco Pride Celebration, coming up on June 27th and June 28th. SF Pride is dedicated to
education, the commemoration of LGBT heritage and the celebration of LGBT culture and
liberation.
Through a long-standing partnership with the committee, CCS donates credits to the SF Pride
committee for use of our service to coordinate event logistics. In turn, CCS gets to show
our support of the SF Pride's mission by proudly waving at bystanders from the parade route.
And you're invited to jump into the fun! Come strut in the parade with us, bring a friend to
our booth on the corner of Larkin and McAllister to say hello and sign them up (we'll waive
their deposit and give you both credits), or enter a contest just for members.
In honor of their 2009 event theme,
"In Order to Form a More Perfect Union...," SF Pride is keeping tabs on the state of LGBT rights and
community issues in each of the fifty states in the Union. To keep updated on SF Pride follow
them on Facebook or Twitter.
While you're at it, convey your pride for being a City CarShare member and become our fan on
Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
We're 8 years old after all, so it's the perfect time to join the tech-savvy times.

Islanders Welcome City CarShare
What Bay Area city is surrounded by water, has 14 parks, many charming historical buildings
and homes, and a population of about 75,000? If you guessed Alameda, you're correct. What
you may not know is that Alameda is now home to new City CarShare pods. This bike-loving
island community has warmly welcomed City CarShare, and we are very happy to bring car
sharing to Alameda residents and businesses. The process of finding just the right spots to
place our cars in the Park Street downtown district has been fun. There are many restaurants
and shops to explore, tree lined streets and friendly people on this 12.4 square miles of Bay
Area treasure. We recommend that you visit (or re-visit) the island to remind yourself and
friends what this delightful community has to offer. Ferry, bus, bike and City CarShare
are all options for getting there. The closest BART station is Fruitvale.
New Pods
Alameda: Downtown: Santa Clara & Park Street (Bank of America)
Berkeley: North Berkeley: La Loma & Ridge (Kingsman Hall)
San Francisco: Soma: 8th & Market
San Francisco: Castro: Diamond & 18th
New Cars
Berkeley: UC Berkeley: Dwight & College
Berkeley: North Berkeley: Shattuck & Virginia
San Francisco: Russian Hill: Pacific & Polk
Note: the Berkeley location is replacing the Ridge & Euclid location.
We plan to open another pod in downtown Alameda in the next couple of weeks.

Killing My Lobster & City CarShare Hit the Highway!
"Promises to take on all the stuff one encounters on road trips (Erik Estrada sighting not guaranteed). Click it or ticket!" —SF Bay Guardian
What happens when you put two local nonprofits together for a fun-filled road trip (or, night
of sketch comedy)? Come find out in this month's production of Killing My Lobster Hits
Highway 101! Voted 2009 Best Comedy Troupe by SF Weekly, KML, a nonprofit, has partnered
with City CarShare to promote this hilarious road-tripping adventure.
Hop in and explore the finer sides of California as KML cruises the Golden State in search of
everything she has to offer: anthropomorphized black bears, winos, garlic, horrible
mix-tapes, tectonic plates, mindless car games, poor navigation skills, theme-park
hegemonies, and a couple of ex-Hollywood-types-gone-political.
Dates: May 28 - June 14
Place: Zeum Theater at Yerba Buena Gardens, 221 4th St. (@ Howard), San Francisco
As a City CarShare member, you can receive $5 off each ticket when you enter
KMLSHARE in the online "Ticket Promotion Code" field or mention
KMLSHARE when purchasing tickets at the theater and flash your fob.

Challenge Yourself - SF AIDS Seismic Challenge
City CarShare is constantly promoting, supporting and touting local businesses and
organizations. As a community-based nonprofit bent on improving the quality of life in the
Bay Area, we love finding opportunities to make a difference. The Seismic Challenge is a
two-day, 200-mile cycling fundraiser to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation in
preventing new HIV infections. Be a part of the Seismic Challenge as it follows 4 major fault
lines in a scenic loop around San Francisco Bay. The magnitude of this event will be measured
by the hundreds of thousands of dollars that cyclists will raise to fight HIV.
The new route and the new challenge will show you parts of the Bay Area that you've probably
never cycled before. It covers all the diverse landscapes that the region has to offer
including redwood groves, bay vistas and the rolling hills of wine country. The ride is
limited to 150 cyclists so register today for the experience of a lifetime!
As a special offer to City CarShare members, you can get $40 off the registration fee of $95
if you sign up by July 20. Just enter the promo code, city (case sensitive), during
registration to receive the special discount.
Please visit www.seismicchallenge.org to register or to RSVP for an information meeting.

Driver's Tip: Keep an Eye Out for Bicyclists
Last month, we supported Bike to Work Day by supplying refreshments while cheering on those
biking to work at many energizer stations on both sides of the Bay. At City CarShare, we
realize that cyclists deserve support everyday. And with the weather warming up, there are
more bicyclists on the roads these days. We all need to remember to share the road with
bicyclists and be especially careful when backing up or opening doors, where they may
be riding.
This month, we've added new bike racks to our Subaru Outbacks! (Pacific & Polk,
Market & Buchanan
and University & MLK) Each bike rack can hold two bikes and the racks come with locks so you
can secure your wheels. Enjoy your ride!
Want to learn more about bike safety and sharing the road? Contact (and join!) one of the
great biking organizations supporting our communities. Let them know that City CarShare sent
you.

Creating a 'Greener' World Never Looked So Good!
Bridget and Jessica, City CarShare members since 2003, certainly think so! For the past five
years, these sisters, the founders of Trash Mash-Up (TMU), have been constructing
"Maskostumes" out of disposable materials. These "Maskostumes" are masks and costumes
inspired by traditions from around the world.
TMU used a CCS car to transport Maskostumes and
supplies to Carnaval SF. Bridget and Jessie thank City CarShare for donating the use of the
car! Reducing waste by using trash to make fun, colorful art, TMU reminds all San
Franciscans that one person's trash can become an entire city's treasure. For more
information about Trash Mash-Up, check out their website at
http://trashmashup.googlepages.com/
