Don't Drive, Bike! Get Rolling on Bike to Work Day: May 14th
A car share provider asking you not to drive? Well, City CarShare is not your typical car
sharing organization. We encourage you to use cars only when other options won't do so we
hope you'll join thousands of work-bound bicyclists on Thursday, May 14th for Bike to Work
Day. If you don't ride to work already, this is a great day to jumpstart your biking routine
alongside lots of other new and experienced cyclists. Did you know that door-to-door biking
is often quicker than driving? That's right, one big benefit of biking is predictability-
since you bypass most traffic your commute time stays consistent. As an added bonus you
can pat yourself on the back for a zero-emission commute and fitting in some exercise.
Ways to Get Involved:
City CarShare is helping out at Energizer stations throughout the Bay Area from 6:30 am - 9 am.

Sharing our Expertise at TransForm's Summit
Come to the Summit! Ride your bike, take BART or use City CarShare, but don't miss
TranForm's annual get-together on May 16 at Laney College in Oakland. TransForm is a
nonprofit that works to create world-class public transportation and walkable
communities in the Bay Area and beyond. This year's Summit has an especially timely focus: the
critical role of transportation and land use in the health of our economy, pocketbooks, and
the planet.
As a special treat for all you land use aficionados City CarShare and Nelson/Nygaard
Consulting Associates will be co-presenting results that are so impactful and interesting
you won't want to miss them. Trust us on this.... the message is a lot more interesting then
the title: Getting More with Less: Managing Residential Parking in Urban Developments with
Carsharing and Unbundling. This impact study highlights examples of how City CarShare
works with developers to identify ways to decrease the number of parking spaces in new
developments, leaving more space for residences, retail and green spaces. Our work with
developers helps us achieve our mission to improve the quality of life in our cities by
finding smart ways to use less space for cars and more space for people.
The Summit is an all-day conference that has sessions on public transportation, housing,
walking, bicycling, social justice, health, smart growth, and community planning. The
afternoon includes walking, bicycling and transit tours, plus a networking hour.
Over 300 people, from interested residents and community activists to nonprofit leaders and
policy makers, attend the Summit. Why? Because it's the place to get the knowledge,
connections, and inspiration needed to make change in the Bay Area and beyond. Go to
www.TransFormCA.org to learn more and register, or call 510-740-3150.

Summertime Fun Around the Bay
We asked our event volunteers why they like to share the word at events. Here's what Sophia said:
"It's always fun to talk to interested people about CCS, because car-sharing is just such a
cool idea. Once people know about it, they get so excited! I like being a part of the process.
And the events are always at neat festivals, which means that I get to spend part of a day
hanging out with cool people, at a cool location, talking about cool stuff. Not a bad deal!"
Here's a glance at the events where we will be Sharing the Love in the coming months:
Cinco de Mayo Dolores Park - May 2nd
Alameda Mother's Day Spring Show - May 9th & 10th
Bike to Work Day - May 14th
Asian Heritage Street Festival - May 16th
San Francisco Carnaval - May 23rd & 24th
Union Street Fair - June 6th & 7th
Temescal Street Fair - June 7th
North Beach Street Fair - June 13th & 14th
SF Pride - June 27th & 28th - Parade participant and booth volunteers needed
