Cleaner Air - Take the Spare the Air Pledge!
Take a deep breath. Notice anything? As a City CarShare member, you have a lot to do with the
quality of the air we all breathe. That's because you help reduce automobile emissions by
10's of millions of pounds each year. But that breath could be cleaner.
You can do your part to freshen up our air by joining others in our community who have
taken the Spare the Air pledge.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District and City CarShare have partnered to reward Bay Area residents that
pledge to reduce their contribution to air pollution by driving less. Just go to
www.sparetheair.org and click on the
City CarShare Spare the Air logo, and make the pledge. You'll
receive driving credits as our thank
you.
Your employer can also take the pledge to improve our Bay Area air. Register your employer
for the Spare the Air Employer Program so you can get access to free tools to educate your
co-workers about Spare the Air and ways to prevent air pollution.
While you're at it, ask your employer to take the next step in supporting alternative
commuting by activating a City CarShare business plan. With a City CarShare business
membership, employees can take public transit to work and have convenient access to nearby
cars for off-site meetings. When your business or nonprofit organization takes the pledge at
www.sparetheair.org, City CarShare
will waive the annual fee for the first year, a value of up to $120. Plus, through our
ongoing Tell a Friend
program, if your employer let's us know you referred them, we'll give you $50 in driving
credit. Click here,
or give us a call at 415-995-8588 to learn more about how your co-workers - and you - can
Spare the Air with a City CarShare business plan.

Changes in the Air
Our members are not shy about telling us what they enjoy and value. We adore you for this.
We also hear from you when you're not so happy. This helps us improve our service and we
appreciate your feedback. Based on your input and our discussions with other socially
responsible car sharing organizations, we've noted common problems where a few car share
members don't adhere to the basic rules for sharing. These few members are inconveniencing
others and creating higher costs for all of us. Therefore, we've made a few changes to our fees
and rules to encourage high quality sharing. For those of you who have been "gracefully
rolling in" late, please note that we no longer offer a grace period. Please consider adding
15 minutes to your reservation. It will only cost an additional $1.25. Other notable changes:
Now cats and dogs are allowed to ride in our cars as long as they are in pet carriers. These changes will take place
starting on March 1. For more details, please go to our fees and credits page. Please remember that you
can always download the most recent member handbook from our log in page as well.

changes. Over the next few weeks, the draft document is available for public review and
comment. Click

Driving Tip: Find an Empty Gas Tank? Let us Know
Lorna, a CCS member for over six years, is feeling a little frustrated with some of her
neighbors who share our cars with her. She reports the cars at her pod have gas tanks less
than half full far too frequently.
Lorna took the time to write us, so we're taking the time to remind you that an integral part
of sharing is returning the car with at least half a tank of gas. Opt in for our automatic
text message reservation confirmations, so you always have your Gas Card Driver ID handy if
you drain the tank. (Log in and go to the Preferences
page in the Account Info section. Enter your 10-digit cell phone number followed by @ and
your carrier's domain in the text message confirmation box (ex. 4159958588@txt.att.net). We
have a reference guide to help you get started.)
If you come across a
vehicle with less than half a tank of gas, report it by emailing
Member Service or calling us at 415-995-8588. We'll need your name, member number, date,
time, and VIN number, so we can investigate and assign a fee to those committing the car
sharing faux pas. Once you've notified us, please fill the tank so the next member doesn't
get stranded and send us the receipt for reimbursement. Your fellow members - and our staff - will truly appreciate it.
While we hate to do it, we charge a fee to members who return a car with less than half a
tank of gas. These fees are designed to remind and reinforce the idea that we are all
sharing together and that inconveniencing each other is not in the spirit of sharing.

Thanks to ODC, dance that evokes something akin to community is not only possible—it's also
hip. — San Francisco Bay Guardian
City CarShare is thrilled to partner with another local nonprofit, ODC/Dance. Known for their
fiercely athletic and socially motivated dances, Artistic Director Brenda Way and Co-Artistic
Director KT Nelson have drawn on their considerable artistic DNA to produce two new pieces
teeming with emotional intelligence.
Don't miss Brenda Way's In the Memory of the Forest, a
multi media work inspired by a young woman's flight from Warsaw, and KT Nelson's Grassland, a
dynamic exploration of nature. ODC/Dance's 38th season will run from March 12-29 at Yerba
Buena Center for the Arts. For more information visit http://www.odcdance.org and stay tuned
