SF Pride Contest for Sweet Seats and a Glam Gala

City CarShare has acquired rare gems for the SF Pride event:

Grandstand seating tickets (June 24)
VIP Pride Party Tickets (June 24, City Hall)

As a proud supporter of everything San Francisco, City CarShare is sponsoring SF Pride by donating driving credits to Pride staff. In return, we get a booth, special tickets and we get to be part of the parade.

And since we're all about sharing, we want our members to have these tickets. All those who want to watch the parade in style or dress up and go to a gala can enter the City CarShare Pride 2007 Haiku contest for tickets.

Send your haiku submissions to marketing@citycarshare.org by June 18 for your chance to win. Be sure to follow the 5-7-5-syllable haiku format and make sure it has either a car sharing or a Pride-based theme. Feel free to be artistic, funny or cleaver. Here are a few sample Haikus:

Driving Tip of the Month - Top 5 Reasons to Call the ER Line

Our local member services team, who helps you without a fee and with a smile, answer all calls to City CarShare's office and ER line. The Emergency Response (ER) line is for members who need help right away for trip related issues. Please hold other calls, such as billing inquiries, for office hours. The top five reasons to call the ER line are:

I have JUST been in an accident.
My car is not here.
I'm running late and cannot extend on my own.
Car won't start or I can't get into the car.
The pod is blocked and I am trying to return the car.

Save time in the future (and stress) by putting these numbers in your cell phone:

Myth of the Month

Myth: Car Sharing works best in my neighborhood when there are a lot of car share vehicles.

Fact: Car sharing works best when EACH car share vehicle is used by more people each day.

Although it seems like a neighborhood that has lots of car share vehicles is a perfect example of what car sharing is all about, this may not be the case. The key to car sharing is sharing. The more members share, the higher the rate of turnover per car. And the more turnover there is per car, the more that car is used.

At City CarShare, our technology allows us to get 25-35% more availability than some other systems. For example, you can reserve a car in 15-minute increments, which can also save you money. And the results are clear. Our turnover rates are high with 3,4, even 5 trips per car per day. Now that's car sharing!
