Save the Date to Celebrate a Decade of Carsharing!
|
Since we launched our service a decade ago, City CarShare members have saved a whopping $100 million a year in transportation costs while lowering the amount of CO2 emissions in the Bay Area by 250 million pounds. Now that's news worth celebrating! Please join us on October 19 to commemorate a decade of Bay Area carsharing pioneered by City Carshare. Tickets are on sale now.
Mix and mingle with your friends and fellow members as we honor our visionary founders and share our love for the Bay Area cities we are proud to call home. Treat yourself to flavorful hors d'oeuvres catered by Credo and toast to the green life with a glass of locally produced wine or artisan beer from our tasting room. After you're fueled up for fun, bop your way over to our play-pods! Hosted by our generous community and partner organizations, these booths will tap into your creativity, challenge your coordination, and unleash your hidden brainpower.
You, our City CarShare members, have had an incredibly positive impact on the Bay Area over the past decade. Your choice to tread lighter has reduced greenhouse gas emissions and given our local roads a welcome rest with less traffic. With your support, City CarShare's nonprofit model continues to lower your cost of mobility while promoting more vibrant communities.

Behind the Velvet Lei: VIP Parking at Trader Joe's
|
 | |
A gorgeous SF skyline view
from Trader Joe's VIP parking lot
|
While nothing beats the comfort of home, the cars that live at your local Pod can now get away for a taste of luau love whenever your hunger strikes. The cheerful crew of Trader Joe's in Laurel Heights is donning its best Hawaiian shirts to welcome City CarShare shoppers. Say aloha to two VIP parking spots reserved exclusively for City CarShare members driving one of our cars.
And if Masonic and Geary is your home Pod, reserve the Toyota Corolla from the rooftop parking lot then stroll down to TJ's to pick up as many seedless watermelons and Chili Spiced Mangos as possible to tote your groceries home.
To access the VIP spaces, wave and smile as you pass up that long line of cars entering the main Trader Joe's parking lot (the true VIP experience always includes a secret door) and head West on Geary. Then take the first right on Emerson; near the end of the street, make another right into a small driveway up into the rooftop parking lot. You'll need to use your key fob to open the gate and to get to the Pod and the two VIP guest parking spots.
This VIP spot has another perk: from this upper lot, you get to revel in the beautiful view of the SF skyline before popping into the store.

Two Wheels, Twice the Fun: September's Sunday Streets
|
Playing in the streets with the kids, playing hide-and-go-seek with the sun (come out, come out, wherever you are!), and spending quality time with our neighbors is an idyllic retreat from workweek grind. Sunday Streets, introduced in 2008 to encourage San Franciscans to become more active and healthy, has become a mainstay for celebrating the Bay's diverse communities.
As a proud sponsor for the past two years, City Carshare's booth is always a hotspot for hula hoopers, friendly games of hopscotch and abstract chalk art. Or flex your dormant twinkle toes in a pick-up game of double dutch with the girl or guy next door ... and exchange numbers to make plans for next weekend. With our mission to reduce the number of cars on the road, the scene at Sunday Streets resonates with the future our members are sharing for.
With six successful events spanning the city so far this year, Sunday Streets gets serious with not one, but two events in the month of September. Join us on September 11 as Sunday Streets makes its triumphant return to the Western Addition. And the following week, on September 18, jet down to Grant Avenue for the first ever Grant Avenue Walking Street. Boldly going where no Sunday Streets has gone before, from the Panhandle to the Fillmore, Chinatown gates to Coit Tower. This special pedestrian route will showcase the amazing local flavors of Chinatown and North Beach alongside car-free recreation. Stop by our booth if you are in the neighborhood to say hello or jump into a friendly competition of hula hooping.

Kabuki Springs & Spa ...
In 1998 when Joie de Vivre hospitality, with Chip Conley, Kathy Nelsen, and Your Space Design revamped the spa to its current avatar they breathed new life to a local treasure. And as a member of the Joie de Vivre family, Kabuki is rooted in an organization that supports the local community. To learn more about the Kabuki or to schedule you relaxing massage click here. Owner Bio Kathy Nelsen has traveled extensively worldwide seeking the waters, the beauty and the serenity of other cultures and their bathing rituals to create a paradigm for the spa experience in the Bay Area. She opened her first spa, Miracle Baths, in a converted Baptist church on Fillmore Street in San Francisco in 1977.She has opened Indian Springs in Calistoga, the Claremont Spa in Oakland, and is currently the Director of Kabuki Springs & Spa in San Francisco, as well as the Director of Spa for all Joie de Vivre Hotels. She believes we can all celebrate the body beautiful and begin to create self love through the art of bathing.
Brava Theater ... Located in the beautiful Brava Theater Center in the heart of San Francisco's historic Mission District, Brava Theater is entering their third decade of thought-provoking theater, music, and educational programs. Visit brava.org for details on upcoming shows and programming.
 Little Green Cyclo ...
When plying their fresh, delectable dishes to hungry crowds, Little Green Cyclo applies the same focus on details to their flatware as they do to their locally-sourced ingredients-only reusable, recyclable, and compostable products bring their mmm to your mouth. And while we follow their food truck route around the Bay Area, Little Green Cyclo follows local organizations and charities. Each month they donate a percentage of their proceeds to a different charity and local food banks. To find out where their truck will be this week, click here.
