Tune into Random House Audio Books
At City CarShare, we're all about making car sharing so convenient you'll share our cars instead of buying your own. We also want you to
enjoy your ride in our fuel-efficient fleet of cars. So if you're dreading the Bay Area traffic that comes with Spring's rainy weather,
we've got something fun for you. Starting mid April we'll be placing audiobook samplers, courtesy of
Random House Audio, in all of our vehicles so you'll have built-in entertainment
for your errands and road trips. Each CD will include a sample of a variety of books from various genres including Fiction, Thriller, LGBT, Romance and
Children's titles too. Look for the sampler CDs in our cars' CD players or check the glove box. If you don't get your fill and want to hear more, you may take the sampler with you.
Please email Member Services to tell us which pod you took the sampler from so we can keep supplies stocked.
Want to know how the stories end? As a City CarShare member, starting April 1st you will get a 15% discount off any online
audiobook purchases when you use the promo code
carshare. In early April you'll also have access to free downloads at www.randomhouseaudio.com/carshare. Including
titles from thriller/crime writer Tami Hoag, novelist Luanne Rice, and Lois Lowry (author of The Giver). Stay tuned; we'll repost
these discounts with more title selections on our login page next month.

Celebrating 9 Years of Sharing the Love!
Wow time flies! This month we are thrilled to celebrate City CarShare's 9th Birthday. Thanks to our loyal members, friends and supporters,
Bay Area community-based car sharing is truly a success story. While we love to emphasize our positive environmental impact, low prices and
convenience, it is our community ties that make us one of the most thriving car sharing organizations in North America.
When looking back over the last nine years, we are very proud of what we all (our organization and our members) have achieved. What started
with a few notable green VW Bugs - and a lot of dedication from passionate employees and volunteers - has now grown into a fleet of hundreds
of cars serving thousands of members. Over the years we have continued to put our members and our local community first, remembering that we
exist to make the Bay Area a better place to live. Here's a glance at some of our unique programs that allow us stand out from your typical
car share provider:
Access for All
Since April 2008 we have been extending our service to even more Bay Area residents with the nation's first and only wheel-chair accessible
car share van, the AccessMobile.
Sharing Vans to Get Youth Outdoors
Together, CCS and the Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) are able to support fun and educational nature-bound field
trips for youth, while providing all members with access to the BAWTmobile minivans. We have
over 20 different organizations enrolled in our BAWT program.
CommunityShare (Discounted Low Income Plan)
We believe that everyone in the Bay Area should have convenient transportation options without having to own a car. Through our
CommunityShare program, we're working with Glide Economic Development Corporation, City of San Francisco Working Families Credit, and
Resources for Community Development/Oxford Plaza in Berkeley to make car sharing accessible to people of all incomes.
Educating the Community
We participated in more than 100 events this past year alone, including parades, festivals, and conferences. If you have an event, group, or organization that would
benefit from our our "green" story let us know.
Advocating for Alternative Transit Mobility
Throughout the year, we give presentations on how car sharing supports all forms of alternative transit, partner with transit agencies on
outreach and service improvements, and share the word about how car sharing reduces demand for parking with neighborhood and merchant
associations. We are also proud members of transportation and urban planning organizations that support efforts to build a smarter, greener
Bay Area.
Supporting other nonprofits
City CarShare has a special discounted plan for nonprofits and we are proud to report that almost one hundred
nonprofit organizations take advantage of these savings. We also donate memberships to community fundraisers.
Since our members are the core of City CarShare, these Happy Birthday wishes are for you too. Of course, we still enjoy birthday gifts (who
doesn't?) Please visit our Facebook page and Share the Love about City CarShare with your friends
and family through our Tell A Friend program.
You can also make a tax-deductable donation in
support of these programs by mailing us a check or donating online. While we blow out the
birthday candles, we'll be wishing for more incredible members, just like you.

Driving Tip: The 411 on our New Reservation System
On March 1, we rolled out our new reservation system. This new system allows you to quickly search for cars by address (or by Pod and
neighborhood too!) and vehicle type. It also gives you the option to compare vehicle availability at multiple Pod locations, side by side
(just check the "Keep selected tabs open" box in search results). Our new Favorites feature allows you to store addresses where you
frequently pick up cars and then perform searches using a nickname (like Home or Work) that you create for those locations.
To help you get acquainted with the new system, we created short how-to videos that cover the basics for making and changing a reservation,
and managing your account. To view the demo videos on the Help page, click here.
When using the system please make sure you are running the most recent version of your Internet browser for optimal results. Links to
upgrade your browser are on the reservation home page once you log in. Since the system was designed based on the superb feedback from you,
our members, we're eager to hear what you think of it so we can continue to improve our service.

Get Active with Sunday Streets
Sunday Streets are back in 2010 with nine dates, longer hours (10:00 a.m. - 3:00
p.m.) and extensions into new neighborhoods. Building on its popularity, the event will again be held in the Fisherman's Wharf/Embarcadero,
Bayview, Mission and Outer Sunset/Great Highway neighborhoods. In 2008 Sunday Streets was introduced as an incentive for San Franciscans to
become more active and healthy, and to encourage a shared experience of the diverse communities within San Francisco. With the overwhelming
support from the community and sponsorship by the San Francisco Municipal
Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and Livable City, Mayor Newsom has been declared Sunday Streets a
permanent SF tradition that will improve our quality of life for years to come.
City CarShare is proud to partner with Sunday Streets to create safe, fun car-free space on San Francisco streets. The event gives
residents an opportunity to get active and it generates a stronger sense of community. We'll be participating in all nine events this year,
spreading the word about car sharing and encouraging people to use sustainable transportation.
Do you want to help make car-free Sunday Streets events successful? For each of the nine Sunday Streets events, starting on Sunday, March
14, more than 150 volunteers will make each event possible. If you are interested in volunteering,
click here to sign up. Throughout the summer we will also be looking for
volunteers to help us out in our booth as well. Hope you can join us for the fun!

"ODC's choreography is reflective of the American spirit. Take a risk. Make a dare. Leap."
— San Francisco Bay Guardian
City CarShare is thrilled to partner with local nonprofit ODC/Dance for the second year in a row. ODC, known for
their fiercely athletic and socially motivated dances, has just returned from a triumphant State Department tour of Southeast Asia on behalf
of the Obama administration as cultural ambassadors. Don't miss Artistic Director Brenda Way's new piece Waving not Drowning (A Guide to
Elegance) with its wry look at culture, fashion and manners set to a commissioned score by Pamela Z and Co-Artistic Director KT Nelson's
Labor of Love, where "ultimately in the long run, love is not an easy task."
As a City CarShare member, you get a 20% discount on $30 and $45 tickets during the entire run. To order tickets over the phone mention the
discount code citycarshare (Box Office: 415.978.2787). If ordering online enter

Nonprofit Highlight - Jumpstart
For the past 3 years, national nonprofit Jumpstart has been using City CarShare to improve children's literacy in the Bay Area. In pursuit
of this goal, Jumpstart recruits and trains dedicated adults, called Corps members, to deliver an innovative early literacy program via
yearlong, individualized relationships with children from low-income households.
Serving nearly 800 children across San Francisco means they need to be in a lot of places, so they use City CarShare to get staff to
preschools and events. "We appreciate the convenient locations and person-to-person support, as well as the added bonus of relieving our
staff of driving or owning their own cars," says Jumpstart's Christina Burgess.
Want to give local preschool children a "jumpstart" on learning? Join Jumpstart on April 16th from 10 am to 1 pm for their annual Jumpstart
for a Day celebration at the Civic Center. During the three-hour celebration, children will explore learning stations with themes including
Friends and Families, The World of Color, and Music and Dance. To volunteer contact Volunteer Coordinator
Barbara Mazina or visit their volunteer blog.
For more information, on Jumpstart visit www.jstart.org.
