SF Business Times Green Business Transportation Award Winner!
Did you hear? City CarShare won the San Francisco Business Times Green Business Award for Transportation! The San Francisco Business Times
Green Awards honor the leaders and entrepreneurs in green business, clean tech, energy conservation, alternative energy,
and the best and brightest innovators and champions of green and sustainable business practices. We are proud to be
recognized along with many other notable finalists.
The 2010 Green Transportation Award was given to City CarShare because our service decreases traffic and congestion
while providing you with hourly access to a fuel and emissions efficient fleet. Did you know that one third of our
fleet is comprised of hybrid vehicles and all are at the top of their class for emission and fuel efficiency? When you
reserve a hybrid car or one of our two Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, you are
producing 25-90% less harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases than comparable gasoline cars. So, the Green Transportation
Award goes to you, too, for sharing our cars and contributing to a better way to get around. Thanks for sharing our
cars-we couldn't have won without you!

Giving the City of San Francisco a Way to Save Money and Reduce CO2
As a City CarShare member, you save money everyday over the cost of car ownership while greening your ride. Beginning
this month, City CarShare will be providing the same benefits to the City of San Francisco. Through a new partnership,
all City employees will be encouraged to walk or take public transit when possible, and use City CarShare when they need
wheels by the hour. Over a year in the making, this agreement is designed to enhance and supplement the City's current
aging fleet with CCS vehicles. The City has already begun retiring many vehicles in its fleet so the partnership is
timely because the City won't need to purchase as many replacements. And since most of their outgoing vehicles guzzle
more gasoline and have higher emissions ratings, City staff will lower their carbon footprint whenever they use our cars
and vans.
In addition, City CarShare is offering a special discounted introductory membership plan to all City employees for their
individual personal car sharing needs. So if you are a City employee, more information on these great deals can be
found on the City's internal web portal for City staff. If you know a City employee, cash in with our
Tell-a-Friend credits program by letting them
know about this discount.
We welcome the City of San Francisco as our newest municipal government member, and look forward
to working with them to continually improve both their economic and environmental bottom lines.

The 15th SF Silent Film Festival
Movies and live music come together at the glorious San Francisco Silent Film Festival,
coming up July 15 - 18 at the Castro Theatre. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the festival is beloved by movie fans
across the country. It brings films that are nearly a century old to life through pristine 35mm prints and beautifully
crafted live musical performances.
The restored, complete version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis (with 25 minutes of footage unseen for over 80 years) is the
talk of this year's event, but there are 15 other programs representing seven countries and featuring some of cinema's
greatest stars. As the official Ride of the Festival, City CarShare will supply wheels for the festival's special
guests--including Leonard Maltin, Pete Docter (director of Up! and Monsters, Inc.), and Dennis James, as well as making
it possible to transport heavy film canisters to and from the theater.
As a City CarShare member, you get a discount on tickets! Get $2 off individual tickets or $30 off the Festival Pass
when you show your key-fob at the Castro Theatre box office on the day of the show. The SF Festival will also be giving
away some free tickets to their
Facebook fans. For more information on the films and to purchase tickets, visit
www.silentfilm.org.

Fewer Cars on the Road with the TransForm Car-Free Challenge
Raise your hand if you think life is simpler once you give up your car. Last month, from June 1-7, hundreds of
Californians set out to reach a personal low car mileage goal for TransForm's Car-Free Challenge 2010. The goal of the
challenge was to raise awareness of the need for better walking, biking, and public transportation options. In just one
week, Car-Free Challengers logged more than 12,600 car-free miles and raised $20,000 for TransForm's advocacy work.
As an advocate for better sidewalks, more bike lanes, and frequent, affordable public transportation, City CarShare was
a proud supporter of the Car-Free Challenge. To reward participants for their efforts, City CarShare donated a year of
free ShareLocal membership dues plus driving credits to help wean the winners off of their dependence on car ownership.
Congratulation to Steven H who pledged to permanently give up his car after taking the challenge!

SF Pride Recap
We are fortunate to live in the Bay Area and are proud to be a community partner in this region. On Saturday June 26th and Sunday June 27th we felt proud beyond
measure. The City CarShare team, along with our fabulous volunteers and nearly 80 dancers from
Rhythm & Motion and ODC School, took to the streets of San Francisco in
the 40th Annual SF LGBT Pride Parade. As a local nonprofit (named one of the top
10 Gay Supportive Businesses 7x7 Magazine loves), City CarShare is thrilled to support and celebrate
diversity and equality in the Bay Area.
Our booth was a flurry of activity with members and newcomers stopping by as we shared the word and encouraged SFPride
goers to take a twirl in our hula-hoop contest. Each day we had a hula-hoop winner who won a year of ShareLocal
membership credits. For members who stopped by our booth, the Guess the Rainbow candy contest was back for the 4th
year in a row. Congratulations to Scott V., member since 2008, who guessed the number of skittles at 2,850—the closest
to the actual number of 2,822 skittles. Scott won $50 in driving credit!
A special thanks to all of our energetic, passionate, and fun volunteers who helped make the weekend a success. We
couldn't have done it without you!
