 We debated dangling a cube of fruitcake from the rearview mirror of every City CarShare car this winter, but some wise staffers insisted that our take on festive fuzzy dice would just end up fuzzy (and not in a cuddly way). So we decided to celebrate our members this season by spreading green cheer instead of neon green cherries. For the month of December, we hope our holiday season specials help you save or earn some green for those been-good-all-year splurges.

Tell-a-Friend and earn even more moola
For the month of December, share the word about City CarShare by recommending our service to a friend, relative, neighbor, client, or colleague. If they sign up to City CarShare, each of you will get to share $60 of driving credits ($30 each). Just make sure your friend includes your name and Member ID, and the Holiday11 promo code on their online application and we'll take care of the rest.

Christmas Tree Hauling Tips

If you're planning to bring home a fresh tree to star in your living room display, a short City CarShare reservation is a handy way to bring home your haul-iday. But with sticky sap, jagged branches and pine needle confetti to contend with, a fresh tree can pose a hazard to the carpet and upholstery of our cars--not to mention your skin and hand-knit reindeer sweater. To keep the adventure more fun than frustrating, we've gathered some tree-hauling tips to keep you merry.
- Try to use our Tacoma pick up truck. Open-bed capacity means you needn't worry about stains and shedding on cloth interiors. Use the "search by car-type" feature on our reservation page to find your nearest Pod with a truck.
- Make sure the car is cleared of all tree remnants before your final fob-out. We want to ensure a clean and comfortable ride for the next member and we don't want to rain on your holiday parade with a cleaning fee.
- No truck? No worries. For other City CarShare vehicles, we recommend that you carry the tree home on top of the car. Simply place a large blanket on top of the roof and fasten the tree to the top of the blanket with rope. Make sure that your knots are secure and that the tree does not hinder your visibility from any angle.
- If you choose a smaller tree, transport your compact tree in the trunk. For easy clean-up, flip down the backseat of your vehicle and lay a tarp or sheet over the entire area. Use another sheet to wrap your tree tightly and then ease your Tannenbaum burrito into the trunk. To unload, grab the edge of the tarp you've laid over the trunk and slide the entire thing out. Unwrap your tree outside, shake off the loose needles from both your tarps and admire your new noble friend.

 For all you California chill-seekers who use City CarShare to get to the slopes, it's time to bust out your winter gear--our ski racks are up! As the temps dip low each year, the bike racks on designated City CarShare vehicles are replaced with snowboard/ski racks. Plan your next weekend in winter wonderland with a Subaru Outback at the following Pods:
