Java J2EE Application Developer

City CarShare is immediately seeking a motivated, organized and dependable Java Application Developer. This is a full-time contractor role to start, with the potential for full-time permanent status after a period of high performance in the role.

We are a Bay Area nonprofit organization with a mission of promoting responsible transportation as a means to reduce automobile dependence and to enhance the environmental and social integrity of where we live, work, and play. Providing services and education to the Bay Area for over 10 years, City CarShare is a leader in socially responsible, transit-oriented carsharing.

Successful candidates will be focused and organized, able to multi-task, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to take initiative, and work both independently as a team player.  Preference will be given to candidates that have experience coordinating/managing projects and people.  Candidates who also possess a sense of humor and a desire to help make a difference will love working with us. 

 Technical Skill set:

 Core competency

- Java (3-5years)
– Hibernate (2-3years)
– PostgresSQL or general SQL experience (2-3years)
– General Linux and or OSX knowledge.
– jUnit.

Other preferred experience

- Spring 
– Struts2
– jQuery / HTML5 / CSS knowledge.
– some experience with Velocity / Freemarker.
– Experience with JSON/AJAX based API’s.
– Google maps API experience.
– Auth.net and CIM
– Mobile JS / CSS experience

General Skill set:

- Energetic, dedicated, and responsible person — passionate about software development.
– Ability and willingness to learn new material quickly and with little top down management.
– Successful team leadership and project management experience, including ability to coordinate/manage others.
– Great team player, good communications skills, organized, proactive and able to manage your workload independently.

Compensation & Benefits

- This is a full-time, contract to hire, position.
