Fleet Technician - Level 1 Bicycle Mode

Full time. Weekends Included. Temp to Permanent.

City CarShare is immediately seeking an experienced, motivated, organized and highly dependable, full-time, Fleet Field Technician – Bicycle Mode to join our Field Experience team in providing roadside assistance and general support for 350 vehicles distributed throughout the Bay Area.

This role’s schedule will eventually include (after training) Saturdays and /or Sundays as part of a regular schedule.

Responsibilities:

The Fleet Field Technician- 1 role is primarily responsible for helping to achieve a high quality (“delightful”) member experience with our fleet of vehicles and the locations where they reside.

This may include, but not be limited to the following:

Bumper to bumper preventative maintenance and inspections – including oil, filter and lube changes
Services, and replaces vehicle parts such as brakes shoes, disks, switches, handles, levers, batteries, exhaust systems, seats, alternators, starters, etc.
Changing, repairing and rotation of tires.
Performs minor repairs, bodywork, buffing and/or minor touch-up painting/finishing.
Inspect and repair lights, ignition systems, on-board access system, and accessories on vehicles.
Reading, and understanding service manuals and schematics.
Maintain and clean PODs (car locations), work areas, tools, vehicles and office as needed/required.
Provide emergency field / roadside assistance to disabled vehicles, electric vehicles and related equipment.
Test, diagnose, service and repair vehicles and equipment in most cost effective manner.
Operation of automotive diagnostic and repair equipment.
On call duties required; occasional overtime required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must be eager and willing to use a bicycle instead of a car, unless otherwise directed (bike provided).
All candidates must be physically capable and comfortable bicycling in dense urban traffic and using/ transporting a bicycle on public transportation.

Position Requirements

Experience with, and knowledge of, automotive technology, maintenance and repair
A knowledge of, and passion for, automobiles
Strong and positive communication skills
Ability and desire to interact with members in a professional manner
Comfortable working with computers, simple electronics, and other power tools
Willing to learn new skills and ability to adapt quickly
Ability to work efficiently and manage time independently
Familiarity with the geography of Bay Area cities where City CarShare operates
Ability to respond to time-sensitive vehicle issues
Clean driving record and be 18 or older to qualify for City CarShare insurance
Fundamental knowledge of Windows and Macintosh platforms

Other Requirements:

Physically able to use a bicycle as primary mode of transportation, while on the job, and carry bag/back-pack with equipment weighing up to 35lbs.
Physically able to lift up to 75 pounds, to crouch, to bend, to kneel, to stand, to sit, and to lie down repeatedly, and for long periods of time throughout the day.
Desire and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; possess fine motor skills and manual dexterity capable of repairing small and large automotive components.
Possess eyesight to a level capable (or correctable) of repairing automotive components in varied lighting.

Compensation & Benefits

$14 – $16 / hr. depending on experience.
This is a full-time, temporary to permanent, hourly (non-exempt) position
