I am an existing member of City CarShare; can I join the Kaiser Permanente plan?
Where are the cars? BACK TO TOP City CarShare has hundreds of locations throughout San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Daly City, Alameda, and Albany, including cars parked at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and Oakland Medical Center facilities. Once you're a member, you can use any car at any location. How does it work? BACK TO TOP City CarShare vehicles can be reserved online or via the telephone. You can access the cars 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using an electronic key called a "fob." When you become a member we'll provide you a fob, a member ID and password, and a Gas Card ID. The fob works on all of our cars as long as you have a valid reservation. Just log in, reserve a car, access it with your fob, and go. There's no paperwork involved. How much does it cost? BACK TO TOP Our low standard driving rates apply (typically $5.50/hour (weekdays)/$6/hour (weekends) + 35¢/mile). There is a $50 annual membership fee. During the first year, those who sign up get ½ off their first year at $25/year. You pay no deposit and no application fee. (Please note: a discounted $15 application fee applies to each person you add to your household account.) What if I want to take a long-distance trip? BACK TO TOP You have several options with City CarShare. Our Extended Freedom Trips give you the opportunity to take that trip to Santa Cruz without emptying your savings account. Drive up to 24 hours and 200 miles for just $48 (weekdays)/$52 (weekends) + 10¢/mile (35¢/mile after 200 miles). You can even link Extended Freedom Trips together for a weekend away (three day maximum.) To apply an Extended Freedom Trip credit, simply mark how many credits you would like to use when making your reservation. Another option is to use City CarShare's special discount pricing to rent a car from City Rent-A-Car. For long-term, long-distance trips, car rental is a smart choice and we encourage you to check which option works best for your particular trip. For more information, email us or call 415-995-8588 and press 0 when prompted to speak to a member services associate. Can I make one-way trips? BACK TO TOP No. But you won't have to look for end-of-trip parking because you always have to return the car to its original location at the end of the reservation. What about parking? BACK TO TOP You are responsible for finding your own parking while you are using a City CarShare vehicle. Please fob out every time you leave the vehicle. When you return, simply park in the reserved City CarShare parking spot where you picked up the car. Who is eligible? BACK TO TOP Any Kaiser Permanente San Francisco or Oakland Medical Center employee or physician can join the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and Oakland Medical Center plan. Your spouse, roommate or significant other can join your personal account to form a household account (each will be charged a $15 application fee) and you will all share the $50 annual membership fee. You are allowed to add up to four household members. Each member will get his or her own electronic key fob and member ID, but you will get one bill. Members must be over 21 and have at least 2 years of driving experience. For all of our standard requirements, click here. I am an existing member of City CarShare; can I join the Kaiser Permanente plan? BACK TO TOP Yes. If you already have a City CarShare account, you can join this plan by emailing us. If you submitted a deposit, we will refund it to you as a credit on your City CarShare bill. |
